The Noosa points have had a great summer surf season to say the least. Its busier than ever which seems to be the Noosa surfing challenge these days, trying to surf without 300 people in front of you. Sometimes as locals we forget that people come from all over Australia to surf Noosa. Commited surfers will drive from Newcastle to score a great session. Cheap flights and up to date swell data from the net means scoring Noosa is easier than ever.

The image below is one of a 20 shot sequence of this awsome set breaking through Nationals, Johnsons and into Little Cove. I was positioned for this line up shot for over an hour before this set came through. The mystery guy riding the wave got a huge barrel as the wave passed through the trees. One of the best sets i have ever seen come through Nationals while the sun was out.

A few of these images are from a session with Tom Wegener, Jacob Stuth and Rasta surfing Toms traditional Alaia boards. Tom brought a whole collection of different shapes and sizes for Dave and Jake to feed Toms Paulownia powered brain with essential feedback on the board designs. There is a cool shot of Jake, Rasta & Tom on a party wave together.

If your thinking a finless board is a bit of a muck around, think again. Not only are these board designs based on the ancient Polynesian design Tom is fine tuning their development and has these boards really performing. They trim super fast, they turn, slide and spin like no other board. If you are wondering where surfing could possibly go from a high performance 3 fin thruster or a Carbon Fiber nose riding machine consider the skill, fitness and balance required to surf these boards. I think both Dave and Jake would agree surfing the Alaia’s has improved all aspects of their surfing.

Contact Tom in the contacts page if you are interested in finding out about these boards.
