Coastal Bamboo Planting Guide for bamboo plants
Preferably plant out new plants before a rain event. If this is not possible make sure site has plenty of water available, as new bamboo cannot dry out even once.

Select site for bamboo, dig hole twice size of the pot to be planted. Remove bamboo from pot by inverting the pot(turn upside down) tap pot off carefully. Fresh shoots and leaves damage easily at this stage. No teasing of roots please. Keep out of sunlight. Place bamboo in hole backfill with topsoil, firm lightly, careful not to damage any roots or shoots.

Place a handful of organic fertilizer around the base , not too close as to touch the stems.

Water each plant with at least 10litres of water.

Use fish emulsion (to reduce planting shock.
Follow up water each day for the first few weeks.

All bamboo foliage is high in protein and is very attractive to wallabies, horses, cattle, roos, etc, protect plants with tree guards to avoid unnessary damage.

Prune any material that is 3 years old, and always remove dead material. (Good Feng Shui)
